Free writing check
AI tone checker: does my writing sound like AI?
Paste a draft and see which parts a reader might feel are machine-made. It's a writing check, not a detector.
Paste your text into the Humanize Like Me tone checker. It flags AI-sounding words, stock openers, rule-of-three lists, em-dash stacks, “not only… but also” framing, even sentence lengths and missing contractions. Free, no sign-up. It's a writing check, not an AI detector.
Effective time management is a cornerstone of professional success. By prioritizing tasks, setting clear goals, and minimizing distractions, individuals can significantly enhance their productivity. It is not only about working harder but also about working smarter. Furthermore, studies indicate that employees who plan their day gain up to 25% more focus time. Ultimately, mastering time management is a journey, not a destination.
I seen enough of life to know that a fellow who can't manage his time ain't going to get nowheres in his line of work. If you pick out what has got to be done first and set yourself a plain goal and keep from getting sidetracked, you can get a lot more done than the next fellow. It don't mean you got to work harder than the other fellow, it just means you got to work with some sense. They tell me where some studies show that the men who plan out their day get up to 25% more time to keep their mind on the job. So I figure you never get it all learned for good, and you just keep on at it the best you can.
What the checker looks for
| Flag | What it means |
|---|---|
| AI-sounding words | Formal or abstract words that show up in AI text far more than in speech |
| Stock openers | “In today's…”, “It is important to note…” |
| Rule of three | Lists of exactly three, over and over |
| Em-dash stacks | Several dashes in one paragraph |
| “Not only… but also” | A balanced, essay-by-numbers frame |
| Even sentence lengths | Sentences all about the same size |
| No contractions | “It is”, “do not” in informal writing |
How to read the results
A flag isn't a verdict. Lots of people write formally, and some flags are fine in a legal memo. Think of it as a list of places a reader's eyebrow might go up.
Fix what you'd agree with. Ignore what fits your style. If you want help, rewrite in your own voice and the tool does the rest, sentence by sentence.
What it is not
It's a transparent checklist you can see through. Read why that matters on the undetectable AI page.
- Not an AI detector, and it doesn't predict one.
- Not a score that proves who wrote the text.
- Not a promise about Turnitin, GPTZero, Originality or anything else.
Quick fixes by flag
- Cut the stock opener and start with your point.
- Break the longest sentence in two; join two short ones.
- Use contractions where you would in speech.
- Replace one flagged word with the plain version. See the words to avoid.
- Add one real detail: a number, a name, a place.
Questions people ask
Is the AI tone checker the same as an AI detector?
No. It flags writing habits that tend to read as machine-made, like stock openers and even sentence lengths. It doesn't claim to know whether AI wrote the text and makes no promise about any detector.
How do I know if my writing sounds like ChatGPT?
Read it aloud. If you'd never say it, that's a tell. The tone checker spots the common patterns: stock openers, rule-of-three lists, em-dash stacks, uniform sentence lengths and no contractions.
Is the tone checker free?
Yes, free with no sign-up. It's separate from the daily rewrite quota (3 rewrites a day, up to 500 words each), so you can check as many drafts as you like.
Why was my own writing flagged?
Careful, formal writing shares features with AI text: even sentences, no contractions, tidy structure. A flag means “a reader might notice this”, not “a machine wrote this”. You can keep anything that suits your style.
Does the checker store my text?
Yes, free with no sign-up. It's separate from the daily rewrite quota of 3 rewrites at up to 500 words each, so you can check as many drafts as you like.
Can the checker tell me what a detector will say?
No. The free tools don't save your text. It only goes to an AI model provider when you ask for a rewrite, and only to produce that rewrite. Your voice card stays in your browser.
